Global Selektors 3 presented by Alga-rhythms

Sign up or log in to save this to your schedule and see who's attending!

This year Decibel will be paying homage to the deejay through a series of showcases highlighting some of the finest house and techno jocks on the planet. For the final Global Selektors program we'll be bringing together Swedish House guru Axel Boman, NYC deep house prodigy M A N I K, Berlin tech house mainstay Jeff Samuel and a B2B set by Alga-Rhythms resident deejays Apolinario Ancheta and Sappho. Axel is in fact the Swedish word for shoulder, but born and bred Stockholmer Mr. Boman could just as easily have been named Rumpa, the Swedish word for ass, since most of his life has been dedicated to moving just that body part. M A N I K is a young New York City born and bred music producer/DJ thats making huge waves. DJ Mag recently named him one of their official 'Hot To Watch 2011.' His youthful looks belie the serious and sophisticated musical talent that lies beneath. Berlin tech house producer Jeff Samuel will be returning to Seattle, bringing with him a wealth of experience and music with him.

For fans Maya Jane Coles, Jamie Jones and Steve Bug

Axel Boman

Pampa Records / Studio Barnhus
Axel is in fact the Swedish word for shoulder, but born and bred Stockholmer Mr. Boman could just as easily have been named Rumpa, the Swedish word for ass, since most of his life has been dedicated to moving just that body part. It was around 1992 that Axel's ass started dragging the confused youngster into all sorts of weird situations – dodgy warehouses, blooming fields, sweaty basements – just about any place that had a nice sound... Jeff Samuel

Poker Flat, Trapez
For more than 10 years, Jeff Samuel has been releasing quality dance music which blurs the lines between house and techno. It makes sense, his hometown of Cleveland is positioned 3 hours from Detroit and 6 hours from Chicago. Pulling influences from both cities as well as his own wider musical tastes, Jeff managed to create a sound all his own. Prominent artists such as Michael Mayer and Ricardo Villalobos caught onto his sound early on, remixing... Read More →

M A N I K

Poker Flat, Air London, Ovum
The album picked up plaudits across the board - DJ Mag “some of the best house we’ve heard in years.” iDJ noted its continued pertinence as “more than just a snapshot of the current dancefloor flavour of the month” and long-term admirers Mixmag put it more simply “hate to say we told you so”. Equally huge strides were taken as a touring act, with M A N I K completing three fully-booked European club... Read More →

Sappho and Apolinario Ancheta

Alga-Rhythms
Apolinario Ancheta is a highly trained giant squid hunter, greatly respected within the giant squid hunting community. The elusive animal has captivated the imaginations of many people over centuries and his unorthodox methods have won him praise by an odd mixture of people: biologists, sushi chefs, and electronic music producers worldwide. Apolinario employs a specific range of music from House to Techno that he pulsates into the deep seas to... Read More →
