Since 2003 Decibel has paid tribute to one of North America's finest imprints, Ghostly International. Every year Decibel has hosted a Ghostly Showcase but none bigger than what we're presenting this year.
Long time Decibel veteran and underground electronic music chameleon, Matthew Dear, has just released what is arguably his best album to date, Beams. Rich with NYC post-disco rhythms and attitude, Beams channels the raw energy of Talking Heads, Liquid Liquid and ESG, while offering a healthy dose of Dear's own signature techno pop flair. Matthew will be debuting his new live band configuration for this performance, which will likely span his entire 13-year career. With the release of Tycho's long-awaited 2011 album Dive came universal praise and adoration not only for the album's gorgeously constructed dream pop, but the immersive live band performances that followed. Tycho's world-renowned graphic design chops shine through, both in his meticulous productions and in the well-curated visual elements that accompany each song. After years of hosting Tycho in various configurations and venues at Decibel, we're happy to finally be presenting what we're confident will be the best experience to date. Seattle's own quiet genius Lusine (Jeff McIlwain) has never been one to rest on his laurels. After releasing his most accomplished album to date, A Certain Distance, McIlwain went on to co-score three Hollywood films and compose for various television spots. Earlier this year Jeff announced he has completed his third full-length album for Ghostly International, which we may just get a taste of for this showcase.
